We use to do something similar when I was a kid, but my stepdad would pull an old car hood behind the pickup out in a field with snow. The chain was long enough it would whip the sled/hood when he turned around. Surprised one of us didn't get hurt, but it was fun. Didn't have any money to do anything else.
