Yeah I know, I'm kidding. That's beyond disgusting - but asians in general have many delicacies that Westerners cannot handle. And more than that, their methods of slaughtering animals (and sometimes NOT) before consumption seem heartbreakingly cruel. Maybe it chalks up to cultural variation, different ways of looking at things. What bothers me most about this is not that they're consuming live squid, it's the possibility that squid are sentient, feeling creatures(as many accounts strongly suggest), and there is a chance that they are being subject to highly excessive levels of fear and pain. I think I'm gonna go cry and hug a tree now....

All you self proclaimed critics can shove it... check out creepyalys page. Nuff Said. Ocs1986,you should've stood your ground! First they ARE Octopus, Second I've eaten (cooked) octopus three times, and it's not gross, but the texture of the flesh is an acquired taste. I don't think I'd do the "live" trip, but I DO think that perhaps cooked baby octopus might have a better taste. Squid is the BOMB! they MUST be cooked correctly, or it's like trying to eat rubber bands.
