Description:
Solomon Linda wrote this song in 1939, a poor farmer from Soweto South Africa . He didn't read but knew music and lyrics. He wrote this song and sold it for 10 shillings to an unscruplous lawyer who made money off its rights . Solomon, however, made none and after loosing two of his children to starvation, died a pauper and with £12 in his bank (about $22). But his daughter fought to obtain the rights back to the song that over 150 artist's have recorded over the years.
